“Fever 1793” by Laurie Halse Anderson is about a teenage girl named Mattie who gets out of her comfort zone and sacrifices everything she was used to. The book is a historical fiction about the epidemic Yellow Fever. As Yellow Fever spreads, Mattie finds out that her hard working mother gets yellow fever. She has no choice but to obey her mother and leave town with her grandfather. Captain William. Mattie and Grandfather gets kicked out of the ride and goes to Bush Hill Hospital because Mattie is sick. Grandfather is a bit sick. They go back to the Coffee House finding out Mattie gets robbed. They get robbed again and Grandfather dies. That’s when Mattie has to think hard. “What should I do with my life?” During the book, Mattie changes. From a boring girl- to a girl who is hardworking and does not give up. I would give this book a 10/10 because of how many clues the author give us. “foreshadowing” I really liked how the author made mother the very first dialogue, and the very last dialogue. Chapter 1 “wake up and rouse yourself!” Chapter 29 ” lets go upstairs, I need to rest”
